At North Shore State School, we strive to support and develop a Positive Culture for Learning. Our PCL team develop resources that allow students to learn the skills needed to be SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE.
Each fortnight we have a whole school focus that teaches the students the skills that will enable them to succeed and positively contribute to their community. Each focus directly links to our NSSS Behaviour Matrix.
We value and reward positive behaviours with our Village Reward Tokens. Students are awarded tokens when they demonstrate behaviours that are SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE. This is a collective village effort that enables each student to earn rewards such as afternoon activities, movies or free dress days.
North Shore State School teachers are working to adopt a restorative practice approach when resolving conflict in order to develop understanding and empathy in our students. This will provide them with the skills necessary to independently consider their actions, their impact on others and to able to take the steps necessary to make amends for their behaviour.
