At North Shore State School, additional support is provided to students with a verified disability in the categories of:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Physical Impairment
  • Vision Impairment

The individual needs of students determine the range and level of support and are documented in a Personalised Learning Plan. Our team includes the Inclusion Support Teachers and Teacher Aides.

North Shore State School strives to effectively support our students to ensure that:

  • all people within the school community with a disability are provided with the same opportunities as others and barriers to learning and accessing the school environment are removed
  • resources are used in a manner that enables the school to meet the identified learning and support needs of students with disability in consultation with the student and their parents
  • all school staff are aware of their obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005.
  • the school participates in the annual Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
  • partnerships are developed with community organisations (kindergartens, ECDPs, high schools) to ensure transitions to and from the primary school environment are planned to support the needs of students
